Sorry for the later blog post we experienced some techical issues in my area last night.

Huge thank you to all the families this last week for arranging a time to come and chat with me about your son or daughter it was awesome to connect with you all.

During our Social Studies unit and through our literacy tasks we have been building our understanding of "Belonging". Specifically,, we have looked at one special community that we belong to, our Family. Through reading stories, classroom discussions, and sharing circles, grade ones have added to their understanding of our family community. 

Some of our learning intentions for last week were focused on Social studies. Our Learning intentions for this work was:

  • I can identify which groups I belong to.
  • I can understand I belong to more than one group.
  • I appreciate that belonging to groups enriches my identity.
ELA-
  • I can plan a narrative using a simple picture plan or organizer.
  • I can use simple sentences that make sense and stay on topic.
  • I can use vocabulary that fits the story, including feeling words and action words.
  • I can share a story plan and writing with my peers and teacher.
Art (Inspired by Todd Parr).

  • I can create a portrait that represents my family in my own creative style.
  • I can use shapes, lines, and bright colours to show people and emotions.
  • I can recognize that families can look different.
  • I can express personal identify through choices (colour, size, and details).













Reminder that our library day is on Wednesday. Our dance/music residency starts this week. Also please make sure students have snow pants, gloves, boots and winter jackets now that we are in our Calgary December weather.

Good evening families, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Just a reminder that our in class talent show will be this coming Monday in the afternoon. We were super excited to have seen the mural finally come to LIFE in our gymnasium. Good evening families I hope this weekend has been wonderful for you all. Wishing all the Mom's a very happy Mother's day, I hope you found some time this weekend to enjoy some time for you! Thank you again to all the volunteers who were able to join us this week at the Zoo. The students had an amazing day! Our highlights for our week together was our field trip. Happy Sunday families, I hope you all have had a lovely weekend. What an exciting week we had together! We kept ourselves very busy during multiple blue days, and were VERY excited to have our guest visitor Mr. Jeff Stockton join us at Andrew Sibbald this week.
