Farewell for the Year: A Note to Our Grade 2 Families,

As we wrap up this school year, I want to take a moment to say thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me. It has truly been a joy and privilege to watch them grow, learn, and shine in Grade 2.

This year was especially meaningful as we continued exploring the new Alberta curriculum, with its focus on building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, nurturing curiosity, and developing critical thinking skills. I’m so proud of how our students took on new challenges — from understanding number relationships to writing with purpose, exploring patterns in the world, and asking thoughtful questions about their community.

Beyond academics, our classroom was a place where students practiced kindness, cooperation, and resilience every day. Whether it was through group projects, daily routines, or small moments of caring for one another, they showed what it means to be responsible and compassionate classmates.

I also want to thank you, our families, for your ongoing support, encouragement, and partnership. Your engagement — from reading at home to communicating with me throughout the year — made a huge difference. Together, we helped make learning meaningful, fun, and connected to the world around us.

As your children move on to Grade 3, I know they will continue to grow into curious, capable, and confident learners. I hope they head into summer with happy memories, new skills, and an excitement for all the adventures ahead.

Wishing you all a wonderful, restful summer full of family time, fun, and discovery. Thank you for a fantastic year!

Warmly,
Ms. Craik
