Happy Sunday families,

I hope you have had a great weekend enjoying the beautiful weather. We had a busy week, we had a ton of fun with the Sibbald's Got Talent show on Friday! Huge congratulations to all the contestants and the audience who did an amazing job.

We began a new project in Grade 2 where we worked in small groups to complete a book report of my choosing.

Our learning intentions in literacy ELAL for this were:

  • I can read and talk about a book of my choice with my partner.
  • I can listen to my partner's ideas and share my own ideas.
  • I can take turns reading and talking about the book.
  • I can identify the characters, setting, events and problem in the story.
  • I can make a story map.
  • I can talk to my partner about what happened in each chapter.
  • I can write sentences and answer questions with my partner about the story.
  • I can draw pictures with my partner to show what happened in the story.
  • I can read out loud and a comfortable pace.
  • I can make predications about events in the story.
  • I can understand the main ideas and what happens in each chapter.
  • I can understand the main ideas and what happens in each chapter.
  • I can use pictures and words to help me understand new parts of the book.
  • I can write or draw about my favourite part of the story.
  • I can talk about my book report with my teacher and classmates.
  • I can listen to others' ideas about their book reports.

We also had a very exciting event where we got to have baby goslings in our classroom on Thursday afternoon.

We were so excited to have real life babies in our room, as we have learned a lot this year about Animals. We had so many I wonder, I noticed and I know statements, and then wanted to write stories about the goslings.

Also a reminder our lacrosse residency starts this week. See you Monday friends!
