Good evening families, I hope you have all had a lovely weekend enjoying the beautiful weather we had on Friday and Saturday! This week at school the students were busy learning about measurement in math (and we even got outside to do our learning). Our learning intentions for this were: I can measure objects using non-standard tools like cubes, paperclips, and blocks. I can measure objects using standard tools like rulers and metre sticks. I can explain why standard units like centimetres and metres are important. I can measure the length and height of objects in centimetres. I can measure longer distances using metres. I can choose the best unit (centimetres or metres) for what I am measuring. Estimating I can estimate the length of an object before measuring it. I can compare objects to decide which is longer, shorter, or the same length. I can explain the difference between an estimate and exact measurement. Hoppy Easter 2nd grade crew families, I hope you all are enjoying a lovely long weekend together, and a very Happy Easter to you all! Wow, I am still thinking about the students and how well they all did for our Spring Equinox Celebration of Learning, so incredibly proud of their efforts! We had very busy week this week in Grade 2 some of our highlights were preparing for our Spring assembly, talking about The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, Earth Day and Easter and our own family traditions. Some of our learning intentions for this week were: In Science: I can explain how plants, animals, and people are connected to the Earth. I can talk about ways to take care of the Earth in spring. I can share how the seasons affect living things. In ELA I can speak clearly and confidently to an audience. I can listen respectfully when others are speaking. Happy Sunday families, I hope you had a good weekend together, even with the snow that we had on Saturday! We had a busy week in grade 2 this week. Huge thank you again to the parents who were able to join us on our third walking trip to Fish Creek it sure was a beautiful morning. A highlight of our week was Fish Creek, our learning intentions for this were: I can: Discuss ways to respect plants and animals while interacting in various environments. Explain positive and negative impacts of human behaviour on plants and animals.  Represent the life cycles of various plants and animals. Discuss and compare life cycles of various plants and animals. Discuss how humans might interact with land, plants, and animals if they see land, plants, and animals as equals.
