Happy Sunday 2nd grade crew families,
What an awesome week we had! Huge thank you again to the Andrew Sibbald Parent Association for providing our students with the Teachers Pet experience this week. We had so much fun!
Our learning intentions in Science for this were;
Earth’s Landforms & Bodies of Water
- I can identify and describe different landforms in Alberta, like mountains, valleys, plains, and hills.
- I can recognize different bodies of water, such as rivers, lakes, and ponds, and explain their importance.
- I can describe how water moves and changes in nature (e.g., rivers flowing, ice melting, rain falling).
- I can explain how land and water support plants, animals, and people.
- I can investigate how landforms and bodies of water shape where people and animals live.
Earth’s Relationship to the Sun
- I can describe how the Sun provides light and heat to Earth.
- I can explain how the Sun’s position in the sky changes throughout the day.
- I can explore how shadows change based on the Sun’s movement.
- I can describe how the Sun’s energy helps plants grow and supports life.
- I can model how Earth moves around the Sun and how this affects day and night.
Understanding Earth's Components & the Sun
- I can describe how the Sun gives light and heat to Earth.
- I can explain why the Sun is important for life on Earth.
- I can identify different parts of Earth, like land, water, and air.
- I can investigate how the Sun creates day and night.
- I can observe and describe patterns in the movement of the Sun.
- I can explain how shadows change based on the Sun’s position.
- I can explore how the Sun affects weather and seasons.
- I can describe how plants and animals depend on sunlight to survive.
- I can model how Earth moves around the Sun.
- I can ask questions and make observations about the Sun, Earth, and space.
Math (Number Sense & Patterns)
- I can count to 100 by 1's, 2s, 5s, and 10's.
- I can show 100 using different number combinations.
- I can add or subtract numbers to make 100.
- I can recognize patterns in a 100-chart.
- I can group objects into 10's to count to 100.
Literacy (Reading, Writing & Communication)
- I can read and write 100 words.
- I can list 100 things I am thankful for.
- I can explain what life would be like when I am 100 years old.
Art
- I can draw what I would look like when I am 100 years old.
PE
- I can move my body in 100 different ways (jumps, stretches, etc.).
Just a reminder please wear PINK tomorrow for our Grade 3 and Kinder assembly for Pink Shirt Day this week.
Also please wear PINK for PINK SHIRT day on Wednesday!
No school on Friday February 28th PD DAY.
