Happy long weekend 2nd grade crew families!

I hope you all have had a lovely extra long weekend together and were able to spend some time together for Family Day doing the things you and your family loves!

Just a reminder that Tuesday is our in-class Science field trip experience, with Teachers Pet.


A highlight of our short week together was celebrating Friendships and Valentine's Day. Our learning intentions for the week were:

Language Arts

  • I can write a friendly note or card to a classmate for Valentine's Day.
  • I can read a story about friendship and love and discuss the main ideas.
  • I can use descriptive words to describe how I feel on Valentine's Day.
  • I can create a short message that expresses kindness and appreciation for others.

Social Studies
  • I can explain why we celebrate Valentine's Day and its significance in our culture.
  • I can share how different cultures celebrate love and friendship.
  • I can discuss ways to show kindness and friendship to others, especially on Valentine's Day.
Health and Wellness
  • I can identify ways to be a good friend and show kindness to others on Valentine’s Day.
  • I can talk about feelings and emotions related to friendship and love.
  • I can participate in activities that promote teamwork and cooperation during Valentine's Day celebrations.
Art
  • I can create a Valentine’s Day card using different art materials.
  • I can design a heart map that represents love i feel in my heart.
  • I can express my ideas about love and friendship through a sketch.

We also enjoyed a fun movement game of would you rather Valentine's Edition huge thank you to our School PT for this resource!




Our classroom Valentines bags were inspired by our love for animals, and insects!













Our heart maps were inspired by what we hold in our hearts, what do we connect to and what do we hold dear to us. Our provocation for this was, What's inside your heart?








In literacy one of our tasks was to write about Valentine's day, some students wrote about their favourite thing about Valentine's Day or what Valentine's Day means to them.

We were super excited to have seen the mural finally come to LIFE in our gymnasium. Good evening families I hope this weekend has been wonderful for you all. Wishing all the Mom's a very happy Mother's day, I hope you found some time this weekend to enjoy some time for you! Happy Sunday families, I hope you had a good weekend together, even with the snow that we had on Saturday! We had a busy week in grade 2 this week. Huge thank you again to the parents who were able to join us on our third walking trip to Fish Creek it sure was a beautiful morning.
