Good evening families,

I hope you all have had a fantastic weekend and stayed warm! The students had an excellent week with Mrs. K, she left a lovely note about how well behaved and amazing they all are while I was absent this week, GREAT JOB FRIENDS!

This week we are celebrating the amazing residency experience we had with Alien Inline Skating with Coach Ashley. A huge thank you to Andrew Sibbald Parent Association for covering the cost of this experience for the students. Also big thanks to our Grade 5 Buddies from Mrs. Sampson's class who helped us with our gear for our three sessions.

Our learning intentions for this in Physical Education were:

Movement Skills & Active Living

  • I can balance on my skates while moving forward.
  • I can start and stop safely while inline skating.
  • I can glide on one foot for a short distance.
  • I can bend my knees and keep my body balanced while skating.
  • I can practice stopping using different techniques like the 'T-stop' or 'plow'.
Locomotor Skills and Coordination
  • I can push off with one foot  and glide smoothly.
  • I can change directions while skating.
  • I can skate around obstacles safely.
  • I can increase my confidence by practicing new skills.
Safety & Personal Responsibility
  • I can wear my helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards properly.
  • I can fall safely by bending my knees and landing on my protective gear.
  • I can skate in control and be aware of others around me.
  • I can listen to the instructions and follow safety rules during skating lessons.
Wellness & Enjoyment of PE
  • I can try my best, even when learning something new is challenging.
  • I can encourage my classmates while we skate together.
  • I can have fun being active and learning new ways to move my body.

Have a wonderful evening, and please make sure you are dressed for the weather this week friends it is going to be chilly! See you Monday.

Ms. Craik
