Happy Sunday 2nd grade crew families,
Another amazing week of learning we had together this week! We are excited to start our Aline Inline skating this week! Reminder to all families our session is Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00 a.m. sharp.
Some our learning intentions this week was in PE and Wellness were:
I can:
- build relationships through teamwork.
- display behaviours that support participation, safety, and participant enjoyment.
- utilize movement skills from one physical activity in another pysical activity.
- participate in repeated practice for skill development.
- modify movement to improve control and efficiency
We practiced working together as a team! The challenge was to get as many pieces of equipment out of your teams boundary and into the other team's boundary in a set amount of time. During this excitement, grade 2's practiced a combination of running, picking up, and throwing toward an intended target, all while maintaining self-regulation and impulse control to ensure the safety of all students.
We needed a count of the equipment in each team's boundary so the teams worked together to organize and get an accurate total. Some teams colour coordinated to make it easier to keep track, some organized by type of equipment. Some grade 2 leaders emerged during this part of the game, making sure their teams were organized and moving quickly to get a count.
We practiced movement skills intended to develop strength, flexibility, and coordination. The goal was not to move as fast as you can this time. Students were encourged to focus on their positioning and refine their technique while walking like a bear, a crab, and a seal.
Students had the opportunity to practice movement skills while manipulating an object (a bean bag!) There were some fancy moves happening in grade 2: toss, turn and catch; toss and catch on the back of your hand; toss and catch on the top of your foot!
We end PE with a calming activity to make sure we are regulated to go back to the classroom. We practiced by holding a bean bag on our head. We also played
