  Good evening 2nd grade crew families, I hope you have all had a lovely weekend enjoying this beautiful January weather we have had. Another busy week we had together! The students have loved our Alien Inline Skating residency this week and are looking forward to our last session on Tuesday morning at 8:00 am. Reminder that January 27th Report cards are available to view online on Powerschool and that there is a PD day on January 31st. One of our focused highlights of learning for this week was in Literacy. Our learning intentions for UFLI are; Foundational Literacy Skills I can blend sounds to read unfamiliar words. I can use my knowledge of letter-sound patterns to decode words when I am reading. I can break a word into smaller parts (syllables) to help me read it. I can quickly recognize and read sight words I have practiced. I can listen to the sounds in a word and write the letters that match them. Happy Sunday 2nd grade crew families, Another amazing week of learning we had together this week! We are excited to start our Aline Inline skating this week! Reminder to all families our session is Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Some our learning intentions this week was in PE and Wellness were: I can: build relationships through teamwork. display behaviours that support participation, safety, and participant enjoyment. utilize movement skills from one physical activity in another pysical activity. participate in repeated practice for skill development. modify movement to improve control and efficiency We practiced working together as a team! The challenge was to get as many pieces of equipment out of your teams boundary and into the other team's boundary in a set amount of time. Happy New Year 2nd grade crew families and welcome back to school! We have had a wonderful first full week together. Thank you to the families who have returned your alien in-line skating forms already, we are very much looking forward to this experience for gym! A highlight of our learning this week was in literacy where we wrote about 'What we think snowmen do at night' our learning intentions for this were: Generating Ideas and Organizing Written Messages I can brainstorm creative ideas about what snowmen do at night. I can organize my sentences in a logical order to describe a fun story about snowmen. I can use a beginning, middle, and end to structure my writing about snowmen’s nighttime adventures. Sentence Writing and Expression I can write sentences with a clear idea, such as describing how snowmen might ice skate or have snowball fights at night. I can use descriptive words to make my story about snowmen interesting, like "sparkling," "frosty,"...
