Another busy week for our Grade 2's including our first blue days of the season. We have also been busy preparing for The Magic of a Winter's Yet upcoming concert. A huge thank you to the families who have already donated items to go to The Mustard Seed, we are so lucky to have so many families who are able to help out!
Some of our learning intentions this week were focused around wellness. This aligns with the curriculum's emphasis on Kindness, collaboration and empathy, building awareness of community needs while fostering student leadership.
Students focused on;
Personal Development.
- I can show kindness by helping people who need extra support in my community.
- I can talk about how helping others makes me feel good.
Social Responsibility.
- I can explain why giving to others is important.
- I can talk about how donations help people meet their needs, like staying warm or having food.
Decision-Making and Critical Thinking.
- I can help decide what items are most helpful to donate, like warm clothes or food.
Teamwork and Collaboration.
- I can work with others to collect, sort, and organize donated items.
- I can share ideas for how we can encourage more people to participate.
Health and Well-Being.
- I can understand that helping others supports their health and happiness, and mine too,
- I can talk about how everyone deserves to feel safe and cared for.
"I wanted to give these things to people who don't have homes to make sure they are healthy and keep them. I know they need to brush their teeth to keep them healthy." Jett
"I gave them to the people that don't have homes and so they can stay warm with the gloves because our Winters are very cold." Charlie
"It is almost Christmas, and it feels food to give and not get at this time of year. Me and my Dad went shopping by ourselves and picked out all the things I thought were important to give to those people who don't have homes right now." Ollie
