Welcome Grade 2 Families,
Welcome back! What an amazing first week we had in Grade Two! This week we have focused on friendships, classroom routines, and transitions. Students were eager to see one another and were very excited to share about their fabulous summers.

A rollicking, rhyming, and inspirational picture book for fans of Oh, the Places You’ll Go! and every child who is frustrated by what they can’t do…YET!
Each of us, from the day we’re born, is accompanied by a special companion—the Yet. Can’t tie your shoes? Yet! Can’t ride a bike? Yet! Can’t play the bassoon? Don’t worry, Yet is there to help you out.
The Magical Yet is the perfect tool for parents and educators to turn a negative into a positive when helping children cope with the inevitable difficult learning moments we all face. Whether a child or an adult, this encouraging and uplifting book reminds us that we all have things we haven’t learned…yet!
- I can identify the main idea of a story (Grade 2 ELAL)
- I can use self-regulation Strategies to overcome obstacles and challenges (Grade 2 Wellness)
In grade 2, we shared this book and learned that when things are tough, we need to practice and persevere, and eventually we will meet our goals.
We compared the Magical Yet to our assessment graphic, showing our learning progressions just like seedlings that develop into full-grown trees with time. The book inspired us to make our own Magical Yets (pom poms) to encourage us to keep going when things get tough!
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend in this gorgeous weather!!
