Good evening families,
We are so excited to show families all the fun and learning happening in our grade 2 class! We are settling in nicely to all of our classroom routines and getting used to what grade 2 looks like this year!
Thank you to all the students who remembered to bring back and forth their black take home folders everyday as well as remembering to bring their library books for our Wednesday book exchange with Mrs. Norman.
We continue to be busy exploring patterns in math, playing cooperative games in gym, developing our writing skills during literacy, working on the Magical yet as well as we began to look at what mapping and what community is in Social studies.
A highlight from our week was today students were read the story the dot. International Dot Day is celebrated every year on the 15th of September. The message of this story is; The dot is A wonderful picture book that encourages children to try new of challenging things, to explore their creativity and to have confidence in their abilities. “Just make a mark and see where it takes you”.
- Everyone can be an artist
- Start with something simple...like a dot
- Keep practicing and experimenting
- Be proud of what you can create
- Make your mark and sign your name at the bottom
Students were given a blank piece of paper with a random dot placed somewhere on their page. They needed to then create something out of this using their dot! Students collaborated with peers, they shared ideas and talked about their visions for their dot artwork. Here are a few examples of some of our finished products! The students did such an amazing job and were ALL so very creative and unique.
