Farewell for the Year: A Note to Our Grade 2 Families, As we wrap up this school year, I want to take a moment to say thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me. It has truly been a joy and privilege to watch them grow, learn, and shine in Grade 2. This year was especially meaningful as we continued exploring the new Alberta curriculum , with its focus on building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, nurturing curiosity, and developing critical thinking skills. I’m so proud of how our students took on new challenges — from understanding number relationships to writing with purpose, exploring patterns in the world, and asking thoughtful questions about their community. Beyond academics, our classroom was a place where students practiced kindness, cooperation, and resilience every day. Happy last full week of school 2nd grade crew families, Thank you again to the Parents who continue to spoil us with treats, it was lovely to start a Monday with some yummy snacks, we are truly very lucky here at Andrew Sibbald School! We have had so many exciting things happening in Grade 2 and at our school. This week the students had a great time at the Pancake breakfast and our sports day with our buddies. Huge thank you to again for the Grade 5's for organizing such a fun afternoon, and the parent committee for providing us all with a freeze. Our learning intentions for Sports Day (Grade 2 Physical Education): I can run, jump, and move my body in different wayds during games and races. I can try new activities and use different equipment safely and fairly. I can balance, throw, and catch in ways that help me play and have fun. I can take turns and share equipments with my buddies. Happy Sunday friends and family! Wishing all the dads, step dads, uncles, papas and grandpas a wonderful Happy Father's Day, I hope you got to spend some time doing the things you love to do on your special day! We had a busy week with lots of exciting things happening in our classroom. We would like to give a HUGE thank you to the Parent Association for providing another wonderful opportunity for our Andrew Sibbald Students with Lacrosse! Our kiddos are so lucky. My class has a few students now eager and excited to hopefully get into a camp or program this summer, after having an opportunity to try this. We had an amazing time with Coach Dan this week from Elev8 Lacrosse. Our learning intentions for this PE residency were: I can move in different ways to play games. I can catch and throw a ball using control and coordination. I can use different strategies to play games with others. I can use my body to dodge, run, and change directions during activities.
